This year, the Education Department, in cooperation with the Youth Department, is for the first time combining the concepts of the UN SDGs and holding a series of SDG-related activities.

Three themed exhibits respectively focused on sustainability, diversity, and digitalization can be viewed from May onward in the lobby of the New Taipei City administration building.

The exhibit on sustainability centers on three SDGs, namely SDG 11: Sustainable Cities and Communities , SDG 14: Life Below Water, and SDG15: Life on Land, using various campus or community wastes as materials (for example, Ruifang Elementary School uses plastic waste disposed of near the coast); the exhibit also employs carbon reduction, recycling, and ecological protection as design concepts to emphasize the value of sustainability for the next generation.

The exhibit on diversity corresponds to SDG 17: Partnerships for the Goals, with Roy Hofer, the founder of Artists for a Sustainable Future (ASF); Akira Sakashita, a Japanese sculptor; and other prestigious artists invited to do hold online art creation workshops with students. A "Water Circulation Device" produced by Wulin Elementary School students and a ceramic "Board Game" created by Yingge Middle School students using recycled media reflect the diversity of the exhibition's concepts.

The exhibit on digitalization involves the launch of the online "Xiaoyang Maker's Tour in Remote Villages" in response to the pandemic to promote cultural artifacts housed in the National Palace Museum among rural schools in the spirit of SDG 4: Quality Education.

The physical exhibits have been converted into 360° online virtual reality exhibits, offering the public the opportunity to appreciate the exhibits despite the pandemic.

New Taipei City has been promoting maker education to inspire children's engagement in learning with hands-on application. We encourage children to cooperate and start businesses, promoting the maker concept on the market. Eleven maker and technology centers, 50 maker communities, and 82 maker clubs have been established, with 8,000 maker camps held to date. The number of people who have visited and used the Maker Space and Tool Library has exceeded 6,000, indicating that the maker spirit is flourishing in New Taipei City.
