A progressive city should not only produce economic advantages, but also provide social improvement and environmental protection, so as to align itself with UN's Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). New Taipei City is the first city in Taiwan to have published its first Voluntary Local Review (VLR) on the guidelines of SDGs in July, 2019. It analyzes itself according to standards of a metropolis, hoping to acchieve a better governance.
