In 2020, the New Taipei City Government established the experimental meeting space Comma Lab, featuring a design concept that integrates the notions of an open workspace, interactive equipment, and Sustainable Development Goal (SDG) 9—innovation. The meeting space is expected to have a utilization rate of more than 100%, and soon after its launch, it was nominated for various awards at the 2021 INSIDE World Festival of Interiors and won the following awards: Special Jury Award and Office Space Award at the 2020 Taiwan Interior Design Award, the Popular Choice Award at the 2021 Architizer A+Award for Government & Civic Buildings, and the Red Dot Design Award 2021 for Interior Design.
Representatives of the city government attended the WCS Young Leaders Forum on July 29, 2020, and talked about the democratization concept behind the design of Comma Lab, which is also an experimental space for the SDG Youth Internship Program, a collaborative program between the Singapore startup Evercomm and the city government. This space will become a new hub for youths to promote sustainability.
