Byambadorj Sambuu, Governor of Zaamar soum, Töv Province, Mongolia, led a four-member delegation to visit New Taipei City today (May 15th), touring the city's public health system and school nutrition programs. The delegation also met with Hui-Mei Juh, Director-General of the Secretariat, New Taipei City Government, to discuss the future expansion of exchanges and cooperation.
In the morning, the delegation visited the Sanchong Branch, New Taipei City Hospital, where Superintendent Jeng-Chuan Shiang personally received them. The visit provided a hands-on look at the working model of a medium-sized hospital, including outpatient and emergency operations, early intervention centers, and traditional Chinese medicine services. Afterward, they visited New Taipei Municipal Qingshan Elementary and Junior High School and its affiliated kindergarten to observe their student lunch services and tour its facilities such as the kitchen and health center. Principal Yen-Ling Chen of Qingshan Elementary and Junior High School especially arranged for the delegation to experience the nutritious lunches, giving them a firsthand appreciation of the well-balanced meals designed for students. In addition, the delegation visited the Smart Energy Management Center, New Taipei City Government, to learn how the city promotes smart governance through technological integration and real-time monitoring mechanisms.

In her meeting with the delegation, Director-General Juh noted that New Taipei City shares geographical similarities with Mongolia's Töv Province, where Zaamar soum is located. She highlighted that just as Töv surrounds Mongolia's capital—Ulaanbaatar—New Taipei City encircles Taipei City. She pointed out that Zaamar soum has a young demographic, with school-aged children making up about one-third of the district's total population. Given Governor Sambuu's strong vision for local development, she expressed confidence that this visit would support Zaamar soum in advancing its future policies in education, healthcare, and public governance.
Governor Sambuu stated that the traditional diet in Zaamar soum relies heavily on meat, as well as high-fat and high-sugar snacks, which can easily lead to issues such as nutritional imbalances and tooth decay in young children. He expressed hope that by visiting New Taipei City’s kindergarten, elementary school, and regional hospital, the delegation would draw on these successful models as a vital reference for upgrading local education and healthcare quality. He further noted that this visit marked the very first time Zaamar soum engaged in official exchanges with a foreign city, adding that today’s itinerary had left a deep impression on the delegation regarding New Taipei City’s achievements in urban governance and public infrastructure. He also expressed his hope to further deepen bilateral exchanges and cooperation, working together to advance urban development and the well-being of citizens.
Accompanying Governor Sambuu were External Relations Advisor Buyanjargal Unurbileg, Kindergarten Director Munkhjargal Jargalmaa, and Media and IT Officer Zorigtbaatar Temuulen.
