- 【SDG 17】2024 Pingxi Sky Lantern Festival: Mayor Hou Yu-ih Wishes for "Safety, Prosperity, and Inclusion with the Year of the Dragon in Pingxi"
- The 2024 Pingxi Sky Lantern Festival made a "dragonic" comeback today (17th), with Mayor Hou Yu-ih alongside diplomats from various countries and guests from different groups. They inscribed wishes on four 20-foot sky lanterns themed "Taiwan, World, Dragon, and Tiger" respectively. Mayor Hou wrote the wish "Safety, Prosperity, and Inclusion with the Year of the Dragon in Pingxi," hoping for harmony and well-being among youths, seniors, women, the Hakka, indigenous peoples, and new residents, and for a better Taiwan.
【SDG 17】The New Taipei City Government Participates in Sustainability Forum in Japan, Meets with Tokyo Governor Yuriko Koike
The Global City Network for Sustainability (G-NETS) Senior Officials International Forum was held today (31st) in Tokyo, Japan. The New Taipei City delegation, spearheaded by Deputy Secretary-general Ko Ching-chung and comprising officials from the Secretariat and Fire Department, took an active part in the forum, showcasing the city's policy successes through various presentations. The forum, featuring representation from around 36 countries and 50 cities, facilitated discourse on diverse and inclusive societies, urban safety, and environmental protection. In a gesture of international camaraderie, Deputy Secretary-general Ko extended Mayor Hou Yu-ih's warm greetings to Tokyo Governor Yuriko Koike during the opening ceremony, underscoring New Taipei City's commitment to fostering friendly exchanges with cities in Japan.
【SDG 5】Gender Equality Hub Next to Christmasland in New Taipei City: Taiwan's First Sex Education Venue for Children
The New Taipei City Government has been promoting gender equality in recent years. In collaboration with the non-profit organization, Friendly-to-All Co-Parenting Organization (hereinafter referred to as the Organization), the shops in the Citizen Plaza of which the former leases have expired were transformed into the All Gender NeST Room, a public educational facility for gender equality inaugurated on the 1st of the month. Attendees included the New Taipei City Director General Chingyu Yao of the Secretariat, Commissioner Mei-Chen Lee of the Social Welfare Department, as well as city councilors I-Chen Chiang, Kuan-Ting Cho, Shu-Chun Huang, and Hsiang-Yi Tai. Some kindergarten teachers and students also came to participate in the event, creating a lively atmosphere.
