Dr. Yu-ih Hou, Mayor of New Taipei City, received an 18-member delegation from the Taiwan Benevolent Association of America (TBAA) this morning (8th). Led by President Chin-Chuan Chang and President-elect Pao-Kang Liu, the delegation visited the New Taipei City Hall for exchanges. During the reception, Dr. Hou introduced the major construction projects implemented during his term, inviting overseas compatriots to personally experience the urban transformation and development achievements of the city in recent years when they return to Taiwan.
Dr. Hou noted that, having been in public service for nearly 50 years, of which 17 years have been spent serving New Taipei City, he has been growing and transforming alongside the city. As the most populous city in Taiwan, New Taipei City currently has a population of over 4,044,000. The city government continues to promote various construction projects, including the expansion of the MRT network, the transformation of landfill in Wugu into a vast green land (Wugu Charlotte), the Wen Zi Zun Rezoning Development Project, the construction of the New Taipei City Art Museum in Yingge, and the upcoming completion of the Danjiang Bridge. Delivering measurable policy impacts and improving the quality of life of all residents, these major projects embody a people-oriented governance philosophy where no one is left behind.
In addition to sharing the city's achievements, Dr. Hou also thanked the TBAA for its long-term support of Taiwan-US exchanges and affirmed the important bridging role played by overseas compatriots in promoting bilateral interaction. Wishing TBAA a complete success for its 48th annual meeting, Dr. Hou presented the delegation with an inscription that read "Eternal Friendship with Compatriots" in the hope that New Taipei City and various cities in the United States will continue to deepen cooperation and exchanges in the future and work together to create more development opportunities.
During the reception, Pao-Kang Liu, the incoming president, said that the TBAA has upheld the principle of "caring for Taiwan at all times and serving fellow countrymen everywhere" for more than 40 years, and has been working to implement people-to-people diplomacy abroad to become a strong support for domestic partners overseas.
The delegation comprised 18 members, including Yan-Yi Wang, General Convener of TBAA, and Shu-Hui Huang, the Secretary-General. Meanwhile, Dr. Hou was accompanied by Hui-Mei Juh, Director General of the Secretariat, to receive the visiting delegation.
