【SDG 7】New Taipei for Energy Saving Street Lamp Project
2019-10-09
The city has a vast territory, the 230,000 street lamps in the city are mostly high-energy mercury lamps and high-pressure nano lamps. Since 2013, more than 40,000 mercury lamps have been replaced as LED, which not only effectively saves the electricity expenses of the government, but also got good feedback by the public.
In the year of 2014, the LED replacement plan has achieved good results. Since the beginning of the year of the year, it has introduced the foreign PFI procurement model with a total of about 2 billion TWD in six years, and expanded the city's street lighting replacement into LED with maintenance management plans. As pioneer in the country, the city is divided into two regions - South and North (North District: including Linkou District, Bali District, Wuzhan District, Taishan District, Xinzhuang District, Sanzhong District, Luzhou District, Danshui District, three 13 districts such as Zhiba District, Shimen District, Jinshan District, Wanli District and Yuzhi District; Southern District: including Yingge District, Shulin District, Banqiao District, Yonghe District, Zhonghe District, Tucheng District, Xindian District, Three Gorges District, Shijie District, Shenkeng District, Pinglin District, Shuangxi District, Gongga District, Pingxi District and Ruifang District, etc. 15 areas). It is estimated to have the construction from October 10, 2014, toward September 9th, 2014 to finish it.
About 230,000 street lamps in the city have been replaced LED lamps, which can achieve the following benefits:
- On the economic side: it can save a lot of money for replacing LED and save huge annual electricity bills.
- On the environmental side: about 90,000 tons of carbon dioxide emissions per year can be reduced, equivalent to planting about 64 million trees, which also reduces the environmental pollution of mercury.
- On the energy-saving: The annual electricity saving is about 185 million kWh, which greatly reduces the electricity consumption of street lamps and reduces the power generation load and power generation cost of power companies.
After the city's street lamps were completely replaced with LED lamps, it not only made the city move towards environmental protection, energy conservation, and low-carbon homeland, but also provided a better living environment and quality for the citizens of this city.
