The Secretariat, New Taipei City Government continues to promote the Ambassadors on Campus talks to bring an international perspective to schools. Today (27th), the event was held at Our Lady of Providence High School in Xindian District, where Karten Tietz, Director General of the German Institute Taiwan, was invited to have a face-to-face exchange on international affairs with nearly 180 young students. This allowed diplomatic issues, originally just abstract ideas, to be presented in an easy-to-understand manner on campus, capturing the students' attention and deepening their understanding.

In his talk entitled "Great Minds Think Alike Despite Distance: Insights into Taiwan-Germany Relations," Tietz remarked that Germany faces similar challenges to Taiwan in areas such as energy supply, social resilience, and geopolitics. He led students to explore related issues in depth, broadening their international perspectives. Tietz stressed that Germany and Taiwan should join hands to safeguard core values such as democracy and freedom. Furthermore, he also urged students to not only focus on Taiwan's own development, but also cultivate a global mindset and fulfill their social responsibilities. During the Q&A session, students enthusiastically asked questions covering topics such as energy resilience, international cooperation, and the impact and challenges of misinformation on social media—this strikingly demonstrates their high level of concern on current affairs and strong critical thinking skills.

Kuan-Ying Tsai, Principal of Our Lady of Providence High School, stated that the school is committed to helping students cultivate competencies in systems thinking and innovation. It strives to nourish modern citizens with both a global outlook and humanistic care. She thanked Tietz for visiting and sharing his invaluable experience and perspectives, providing students with a rare learning opportunity.

The Secretariat mentioned that it has planned and held more than ten talks under the Ambassadors on Campus program this semester. In the future, it will continue to introduce a variety of multinational viewpoints, inviting envoys from various countries to Taiwan to conduct in-depth exchanges at schools. The event will help students broaden their international horizons and enhance their grasp of global issues in the course of their studies, as well as cultivate the cross-cultural communication skills and civic literacy needed to face a rapidly changing world. It will keep promoting diplomatic education at the grassroots level and strengthen the ability of youth to connect with the global community.
