Deputy Representative Temple gives a speech entitled "Understanding Australia."
The Ambassadors on Campus program organized by the Secretariat, New Taipei City Government invited Casey Temple, Deputy Representative of the Australian Office Taipei, to New Taipei Municipal Tucheng Junior High School today (April 8th) to give a talk entitled "Understanding Australia" to about 670 teachers and students. Displaying great affability, Deputy Representative Temple interacted warmly with the students amidst a relaxed and lively atmosphere.
Deputy Representative Temple began by introducing Australia's geographical location and information about the country through a question-and-answer session. He then went on to introduce famous Australian attractions, leading students to learn about the country's diverse indigenous cultures and abundant natural resources. Next, he shared his own learning and work experiences, explaining how he transitioned from a lawyer to a diplomat. He urged students to maintain an open mind, believe in themselves, and have the courage to try new things. In the process of exploration, students would be able to gradually build a career path.

Chung-Yen Tsai, a seventh grader at Tucheng Junior High School, said he gained a lot from the talk. From Deputy Representative Temple's speech, he learned that one should actively seek goals in life, be brave enough to try new things, to not be afraid of making mistakes, and continue to strive to explore one's true aspirations. Yu-Ching Liang, another seventh grader, found Deputy Representative Temple's life journey, from lawyer to diplomat, to be quite remarkable. She had lived in Perth, Western Australia for a year, and through this talk, she got to know the Eastern Australian region. She hopes to visit Australia again in the future.
Shu-Fen Tsu, Principal of Tucheng Junior High School, said that international education is one of the school's key development priorities. She expressed gratitude to the Australian Office Taipei for donating 20 English books to the school, giving students the opportunity to gain a deeper understanding of Australia. She also urged students to develop foreign language proficiency and connect with the international community, saying, "The bigger your vision, the bigger your world." Principal Hsu also expressed special thanks to the Secretariat for its assistance in facilitating the matchmaking for this event, which allowed seventh-grade students, who are in the exploratory stage of their lives, to have close contact with a diplomat and broaden their international horizons.
