Edible Landscape - Happy Vegetable Farming in the City
Edible Landscape in New Taipei City started since 2015. At present, the project is divided into five parts: (1) Creating a demonstration site for edible landscapes in New Taipei City (2) Handling green community beautification competitions (3) Public and private home cooking programs (4) Edible Landscape Guiding Group (5) Provide vegetable seedlings and herbaceous plants, edible plants for community and office applications, and provide purchasing information and teaching methods for planting care.

Since the beginning of the year of 2006, the company has created an edible landscape from the "home" through public and private partnerships. It not only saves energy and reduces carbon, but also provides non-toxic and pesticide-free "Gourmet dishes". In 1920, 533 sites have been built. In addition to increasing the green area, it also provides healthy and healthy fruits and vegetables.

"Planting edible plants" and "landscape effect" planting methods, the edible landscape allows the space to be used versatilely, and also provides many additional benefits, including increased opportunities for communication between communities, The landscape effect and the value of rest, the lack of farming experience and farming knowledge and the peace of mind of the urban people.

Plants that can be eaten, including vegetables, fruits, spices, herbs and Chinese herbal medicines, can determine the type and quantity of plants to be planted according to the needs of the planting site. In order to meet the needs of users, the combination of landscape plants is also the choice of planting. One of the gardens that pay attention to the landscape effect can combine landscape plants with long flowering period; in order to maintain the management requirements, it can be combined with perennial and easy-to-maintain hedge plants.

The space for the edible landscape is not particularly limited, and can be used to create an edible landscape from various green spaces, neighborhood vacant lots, community atriums, building roofs, family patios and balconies. The size of the area determines the size and form of planting, but it can be adapted to local conditions. The “New Taipei City Edible Landscape” is promoted and built to transform the idle or low-utilization space as the main target, enabling the above space to be activated and utilized, combining leisure, social, education, ecology, landscape and food output. Multiple benefits, or the use of people's home balcony and building roof, not only can shorten the food mileage, but also can eat peace of mind.
